Dental Health Week

Dental Health Week, which takes place in the first full week of August, aims to educate Australians about the importance of maintaining good oral health in every aspect of their lives.

This year Dental Health Week, which runs from 7 to 13 August, has taken Oral Health For Busy Lives as its theme, with the aim of helping you to appreciate that, no matter how busy you are or where you are in life, it is possible to fit caring for your teeth and gums into an already-overcrowded diary.

You may see caring for your teeth and gums as an optional extra, something to be put aside in favour of more pressing issues, but the fact is that it’s vitally important that you care for your teeth and gums every bit as much as anything else in life.

To assist, we have compiled a range of free online resources to raise oral health education and awareness in the general community:

Children’s Dental Health – here we answer frequently asked questions about baby teeth.

Dietary Advice – food does not have to be sweet to cause decay.

Brushing and flossing – methods to help maintain your dental health and to easily get rid of plaque.

Mouthguards – not only much more comfortable, on impact they will cushion the right areas to avoid unnecessary loss of teeth.

Dental care when you have braces – how to avoid the build-up of plaque and the risk of cavities.

Overcoming dental anxiety  – why people experience dental anxiety and some techniques patients and practitioners can use to help reduce dental anxiety.

How good oral hygiene improves overall well-being – oral hygiene plays an integral role in your overall health.

More resources will be made available on our blog monthly.
